After that a treat we headed inside via basement. There I let her have some good sniffs around… but she didn't move from the door till after I got MB down there too. Interesting. Having them around is really key. So she sniffs around quite bravely, hopping up on the treadmill even. I sent Molly up and started toward the stairs and J made it up there! 2 flights! I let her explore the upstairs again. All is good.

Brave girl coming in for a hello and a shower of treats.
Ben is totally not into her, which is not a surprise. M was giving J slight lip curls when she got in her face. J backed off respectfully.
Headed to my office as J went to the bedroom and laid in her crate. Good girl! I'm glad she identifies that as a safe place. Gonna prep their meals now. Thinking I need to separate them.
Definitely need to separate, as in another room. As soon as J was done she ran over to Molly and Ben and made her way to Ben's bowl. Bad move on me… Nothing happened but Ben just gave me this look as J boldly took his spot in front of his bowl. Will feed in the sunporch or crate from now on.
She was a busy body this morn. It's 10 now and I have her in the porch but with the slider open and dog gate in place. She is resting at the gate. Watching me move about as I have breakfast. Watchful little one.
Observations:
- She def wants to BE involved, BE connected
- M&B activity def help her confidence in a new situation
- She does play with toys
- She will chew
- Approaches to her must be slow, no eye contact, head turned away
Happy dances:
- She takes treats from my hand if my head is turned
- She raises her paw and reaches out for me
- She's poked me with her nose a couple times
What I need to do... Start the name rec and look at that. Use clicker - still undecided? Or mark verbally. I think I have been too quiet. I am surprised on how much she has done, and kinda wasn't expecting to be 'here' yet.
Around 11 am As I started writing this, Jayna came into my office on her own, where my 2 dogs are already napping. She poked my leg with her nose for a gentle rub. A I rubbed the side of her cheek and neck she licked my hands. She then went and lay on the bed under my desk where she went to sleep. Ummmm, I have three office dogs now.
Around 1230 or so took the M and J out back. J pooped again… twice! Before that she galloped back and forth across the hill a couple times. It was cute. She walks like a fat dog. When she's lean and more fit she will move better. She went to find refuge in the gazebo which is great, preferable to the weedy garden. I have to hose that gazebo out. She wouldn't come out with treats though I had no reason to get her to come out. Ben even came out for a peek down thru the basement. Small steps even for Ben!

Hanging out in the gazebo under the table.
Gathered the goodies and camera and headed in. Figured I would take Ben for his midday pee walk. On our way back I could swear I heard little barking… a ruff, almost rem of Scout bark but not the high pitch. I think she was looking for me!
I headed in (probably too hurriedly) and when I was at the slider, I saw J standing just before the grill. No doubt looking for me. I opened the door and after a hesitation, she came right in and up the steps. At the foyer she hesitated, prob because Molly was there and Ben at the top. So M and I headed up and she was right behind. She headed back to the office under the desk.

She is a beautiful girl. J I hope you are feeling safe here!
Had lunch around 130-2 and J went into kitchen under table as I prepped. When I sat to eat in LR, she went to my office to hang out. Cute, laying right at the door.
4pm quiet as a mouse sleeping under my desk.
430 took MJ out back. She peed yay. Explored the yard more, going up along the back fence. I sat in the gazebo and she came to me when I outreached my hand but not looking at her, still an arms reach but great!
She came back in with us thru downstairs. That will be the way we do it…. outside thru the sunporch steps and inside the basement. With Molly providing cues.
I need to be marking behaviors but I don't want to use food with another dog around... It's something i need to think about. I think i might be rushing that yet though.
Boy she really like to be under my desk!
BTW all day today, been playing instrumental piano in the office. I think all the dogs like it!
Someone joined me on the couch!
Nap time. I got cuddles!!! WOW!

As I curled up for a nap, I reached out to Jayna (at the other end of the couch), and nestled in behind me. I got all melty inside.
9pm, boy she got wind in her sails. She was playing like a total spaz with the toys. Green snake is a HIT. Too funny. I cannot yet interact with her. But love that she takes this all upon herself. Moll let her play... though she did grab her octopus back. :) I do have to watch for chewing. She started to rip tags and hang loops off.
Wow... what a BIG FIRST DAY! Thankful for Molly and Ben who are proving to be great role models. And little Jayna... Janey coming out of her shell.
